How to Login NDIS Portal: A Step-by-Step Guide for Participants and Providers

The NDIS portal is not one system — it is three separate portals, each with a different login method. Whether you are a participant, a nominee, or a provider, you need the right portal and the right credentials before you can do anything. This guide walks you through each ndis portal login process step by step.

Which NDIS Portal Do You Need to Log In To?

Before you open any login page, confirm which portal applies to your situation. Logging in to the wrong portal wastes time and causes confusion.

For Participants and Nominees: myplace or my NDIS Participant Portal

Two participant portals exist side by side. If your NDIS plan was created before the new NDIA computer system rollout (which began October 2023), you use the myplace participant portal. If your plan was created after that rollout, you use the my NDIS participant portal. Both are accessed through myGov. If you are unsure which applies to you, log in to myGov and check which NDIS portal is linked to your account.

For Registered Providers: myplace Provider Portal

Registered ndis providers use the myplace provider portal for day-to-day tasks: payment requests, service bookings, and participant management. This portal is accessed using myID and RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager). PRODA has been replaced by myID as of 2025.

For Providers Managing Registration and Compliance: NDIS Commission Portal

The NDIS Commission portal is separate from the myplace portal. Use it to manage your NDIS registration, submit behaviour support plans, report incidents, and handle audits. It also requires myID and RAM.

What You Need Before You Log In

Participants: myGov Account + NDIS Activation Code

You need an active myGov account. If you do not have one, create it at my.gov.au. The first time you link NDIS to myGov, you will need a 6-digit activation code sent via SMS to the mobile number registered in your NDIS account. This code expires within 24 hours. If you have not received it, call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 (Monday to Friday, 8am to 8pm).

Each NDIS account can only be linked to one myGov account. Never use someone else's NDIS number to link — doing so will disrupt their account.

Providers: myID App + RAM Setup

Download the myID app (formerly myGovID) on your phone and complete identity verification. Once myID is set up, the principal authority of your organisation must also configure RAM to authorise staff to act on behalf of the business. Without RAM, employees cannot access any provider portal even if they have myID.

You will also need your business ABN linked in RAM before logging in for the first time.

How to Login NDIS Portal as a Participant

  1. Go to my.gov.au and sign in with your myGov username and password.
  2. If you have not yet linked NDIS to myGov, select 'Link a service' and choose 'National Disability Insurance Scheme'.
  3. Enter your NDIS participant number (found on your NDIS plan) and the 6-digit SMS activation code sent to your registered phone. Official linking instructions are available on the myGov NDIS linking page.
  4. Once linked, return to the myGov homepage and select 'NDIS' from your linked services.
  5. You will land on either the myplace participant portal or the my NDIS participant portal, depending on which system your plan sits in.

For first-time login to the my NDIS participant portal, the official step-by-step guide (PDF) from NDIS.gov.au walks you through every screen.

How to Login to the NDIS Provider Portal

Step 1: Set Up myID

Download the myID app and verify your identity to at least Standard strength. You need a valid email address, Australian driver's licence or passport, and the ability to complete a face verification check.

Step 2: Set Up RAM

The business owner or principal authority must log in to RAM (Relationship Authorisation Manager) using their myID and link the business ABN. Once the ABN is linked, the principal authority can authorise employees to access the portal on behalf of the business.

Step 3: Go to the Provider Portal Login Page

Navigate to the NDIS provider portal login page on the official NDIS website. Do not use third-party links or search engine ads to find the login page — always access it directly from ndis.gov.au.

Step 4: Authenticate with myID

Click 'Log in with myID'. Enter your myID email address, then open the myID app on your phone. A code will appear on the screen — confirm it matches the code in your app, then approve the login request.

Step 5: Select Your Organisation in RAM

If you are authorised to act for more than one business, a dropdown will appear showing all linked ABNs. Select the organisation you want to work under and click 'Continue'.

Step 6: You Are In

You will land on the myplace provider portal homepage. For a full walkthrough of the portal's functions, download the myplace provider portal step-by-step guide (PDF) from NDIS.gov.au.

How to Login to the NDIS Commission Portal

Who Needs the Commission Portal

Registered providers use the Commission portal for compliance-related tasks, not for payment claims. Use it to manage your registration, submit audit documentation, lodge incident reports, and upload behaviour support plans.

Login Steps via myID

  1. Visit the NDIS Commission website and click 'Portal Login' in the top navigation.
  2. Select the relevant portal from the dropdown (Registered Providers, Applications, or Worker Screening).
  3. Click 'Log in' and choose 'Continue with Digital ID'.
  4. Select 'myID' as your identity provider, enter your myID email, and retrieve the code from your phone app.
  5. If your account is authorised for multiple businesses, select the correct ABN in RAM before proceeding.

Full login instructions are on the NDIS Commission myID login page.

Common NDIS Portal Login Problems and Fixes

Forgot myGov Password

Go to my.gov.au and click 'Forgot username or password'. You can reset via email or by answering your security questions. If both fail, contact the myGov help centre on 13 23 07.

NDIS Not Linked to myGov

Go to your myGov account > Linked services > Link a service > NDIS. You will need your participant number and a new activation code. If your details do not match, call the NDIS on 1800 800 110 — the name, date of birth, or address in your myGov account must exactly match your NDIS record.

Activation Code Not Received or Expired

Activation codes expire within 24 hours. If you did not receive one, confirm the mobile number registered with NDIS is current. Call 1800 800 110 to request a new code or update your phone number before trying again.

myID App Not Accepting Login

If the myID app is not generating a code or the login attempt times out, check your phone's internet connection and that the app is updated to the latest version. See myID help for device-specific troubleshooting steps.

RAM Authorisation Error

If you can log in with myID but cannot access the provider portal, your RAM authorisation may not be set up or may have lapsed. Contact your organisation's principal authority to check your authorisation status. Visit RAM help for guidance or call the ATO on 1300 287 539 (option 3, then option 1).

Locked Account

For myGov, wait 15 minutes before retrying or use the account recovery option. For myID, the app will guide you through re-verification. Do not attempt multiple rapid logins — repeated failures extend the lockout period.

NDIS Portal Login Security: What to Do and What to Avoid

  • Enable two-factor authentication on both your myGov account and myID app
  • Never share your myGov username, password, or myID email with anyone, including NDIS support coordinators
  • Log out after every session, especially on shared or public devices
  • Do not log in using links from emails or SMS messages — always type the URL directly
  • If you suspect your account has been accessed without your permission, contact Services Australia (myGov) or the NDIS immediately

Legitimate NDIS staff will never ask for your myGov password or myID PIN over the phone or by email.

NDIS Portal Login FAQs

Can I use the same myGov account for NDIS and Medicare?

Yes. myGov is a single sign-on platform. One myGov account can link to multiple government services including NDIS, Medicare, Centrelink, and the ATO.

What replaced PRODA for providers?

myID (formerly myGovID) and RAM replaced PRODA for all NDIS provider portal access. If you still have an active PRODA account, refer to the PRODA to myID transition guide on the NDIS website.

How does a plan nominee or child representative log in?

Nominees and child representatives log in to the myplace participant portal using their own myGov account, but linked to the participant's NDIS record. They need their own activation code during setup. They cannot share a myGov account with the participant.

Can I log in to the NDIS portal on a phone?

Yes. The myGov website is mobile-compatible. The my NDIS participant portal also has improved accessibility for mobile users. For the myID login process, you will need the myID app installed on your phone regardless of which device you use to access the portal. Download from the App Store or Google Play.

I am an unregistered provider. Can I log in to the myplace portal?

Unregistered providers have limited access to myplace. They can link their myID to myplace and access certain functions such as submitting invoices for self-managed participants. Refer to the NDIS unregistered provider guide for the specific steps.

Summary

Use myGov to log in as a participant. Use myID and RAM to log in as a provider. Confirm which portal matches your plan or role before starting. Most login failures come from mismatched account details or an expired activation code — both are fixable with a quick call to 1800 800 110.
